There will be no further releases of Uncharted on PC at this time.

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection has been available on PC since October 19 (be sure to read our analysis) and marks the arrival of the Naughty Dog series on compatible devices for the first time in its history. It is a collection that includes remastered versions of Uncharted 4 and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, originally released on PS4. But what about the previous games in the series?

The first three installments of the series, released on PS3, will remain exclusive to PlayStation consoles and the reason they give from the study is much simpler than you might expect.

This is the reason why the first Uncharted do not arrive on PC

PlayStation bets on the PC

In a recent post on the PlayStation blog where Christian Gyrling, vice president of Naughty Dog, was talking about the studio’s progress towards the game on PC, he assures that the first three games in the Uncharted series will not come to PC because would need a “major overhaul” to fit modern PC gaming standards.

“While the first three Nathan Drake adventures on the PlayStation 3 console still stand the test of time narratively, they would require a major visual overhaul to keep up with modern PC releases and the expectations that players may have“, he assures.

As in the case of Uncharted 4 and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, they explain from Naughty Dog, it would be necessary for them to have higher resolutions and characteristics of the game on PC such as support for ultra-wide monitors and almost non-existent loading times thanks to the latest generation SSDs. Among other things.

HBO publishes the first trailer for the series The Last of Us

Gyrling clarifies that PlayStation will remain the main platform in which Naughty Dog works, but from now on PC will become part of the ecosystem in specific cases. As in the case of The Last of Us Part 1, which will arrive soon on PC, although it does not yet have a confirmed specific date. We’ll see what happens with that hypothetical new IP that Naughty Dog is working on.
