Square Enix continues to publish messages written by the developers of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth with the aim of updating the development status of the second installment of the trilogy that modernizes the seventh numbered game of the main saga. If recently we knew new details of the world of the remake, now added has been revealed which will count the title made for new players.
For those wondering: “do I need to play Final Fantasy VII Remake to enjoy Final Fantasy VII Rebirth?”, Square Enix reveals “no, we have made preparations so that players who did not have a chance to play the first game can fully enjoy Rebirth“, according to the words of co-director Motomu Toriyama in a tweet.

In addition to this, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has also anticipated that the fate of each of the title characters will be key to define the story of this trilogy that reimagines the original proposal. In the previous developer message it was mentioned that “players will witness a chain of narrative developments that are at the very heart of Final Fantasy VII’s story, as discover the fate of each character“, as detailed by Kazushige Nojima, head of the story.
Premiere next winter
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be released next winter, and should be released between the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024, a date that seems somewhat close to the arrival of Final Fantasy XVI. In fact, it is surprising that this week we are getting so much news about the remake, although it seems less likely that in the next video game events a new trailer for the sequel will be shown so as not to monopolize the attention of the next installment of the main saga.
