Five months before the World Cup in Qatar 2022, Ryan Giggs has announced his resignation as manager of the Wales national team.being accused of gender violence against his ex-girlfriend, Kate Greville, and her sister, Emma Greville.
“After careful consideration, I am stepping down as manager of the Wales men’s team with immediate effect,” the 48-year-old said in a statement. And he added: “It has been an honor and a privilege to lead my country, but It is better that the Welsh Federation, the group of coaches and players prepare for the World Cup with certainty, clarity and without speculation around the situation of their first coach.”.

Since November 2020, the former Manchester City footballer has been investigated by the British Justice after being accused of abuse against his ex-girlfriend Kate Greville, and one of her sisters, Emma Greville. His trial is scheduled for August this year.
For this reason, Giggs had been removed from the team and instead directs his assistant Rob Pagewho led the team to Euro 2021 and sealed World Cup qualification earlier this month.
