After the enormous success of the Magic: The Gathering collaboration with The Lord of the Rings that aroused a collective fever around the card of the One Ringvalued at several million dollars, Wizards of the Coast has now decided to try their hand at video games, and Fallout will be the first franchise to have their own Magic collection. Later will come those of Assassin’s Creed y Final Fantasy.

This announcement took place yesterday, during the Gen Con 2023 celebration, where Wizards of the Coast revealed the company’s roadmap to 2026and it comes loaded with news beyond these new collaborations in the Universes Beyond section.

Magic welcomes video game franchises

The first collection to arrive will be Fallout, which is scheduled for March 2024and will arrive in the form of commander decks, as happened previously in MTG collaborations with Warhammer 40K and Doctor Who (via Gamespot). This means that you choose and build a deck around a commanderwhich could be any of the main characters from the Bethesda franchise in this case.

The next to arrive will be Assassin’s Creed, with a release scheduled for July 2024and this one will have a traditional full format in which to buy and open card packs. This set will feature new “mechanically unique” cardsand it is the second non-Wizards of the Coast franchise to receive a complete set, after The Lord of the Rings.

Finally, Final Fantasy will also receive a complete set, but we will have to wait until 2025 for its arrival in stores. It will span the entire Square Enix franchise, from the first Final Fantasy to Final Fantasy XVI.

Seeing what happened to the Lord of the Rings collection, it’s to be expected. let these sets fly once they hit the stores, especially that of Final Fantasy, which is the biggest franchise of the three, but we will still have to wait a bit to enjoy them. In the meantime, you can take a look at our Final Fantasy XVI review to familiarize yourself with some of the game’s characters that could appear in this Magic set.
