As happened this summer in the German age rating body, its North American counterpart, the ESRB, already lists a new version of native Minecraft for Xbox Series X | S. Currently the game available on Microsoft consoles is the backward compatible version of Xbox One and does not have significant improvements compared to the consoles of the previous cycle.
“This is a sandbox adventure game in which players explore and mine/harvest cube-shaped materials. From a first-person perspective, players traverse open-world pixelated landscapes, avoiding hazards, building structures, and brewing potions and weapons,” we can read in the game’s overview via the ESRB, but it doesn’t detail nothing new regarding the already known versions of Minecraft.
Minecraft improvements on the new generation of consoles
At the moment there has been no official announcement from Microsoft or Mojang about this relaunch of Minecraft and its possible improvements, but it is estimated that this next-generation version can finally implement ray tracing.
Even before the launch of Xbox series X | S, the Swedish studio showed what the next-gen version of Minecraft with ray tracing would be like and there was even a PC demo from Nvidia even more powerful, but since then these improvements have not been shown again and its possible release is not known.
Earlier this year, Mojang denied rumors that ray tracing was coming to Minecraft on Xbox Series X|S any time soon, but that might have changed in the last few monthsaccording to this new clue.
We’ll see what happens with Xbox Series S arrival of this new generation version with ray tracing, since despite the obvious technical weaknesses of the console, Phil Spencer assured that they will not leave it behind and will continue to have the same games and functions than her older sister whenever possible.
