While rumors have it that PlayStation is working on various mobile games, Sony Interactive Entertainment lost the head of PlayStation Mobile two years after the division was established with the intention of conquering the mobile market. Now, the MobileGamer.biz medium reveals that Michail Katkoffwho was managing director of Savage Game Studios, leaves the studio less than a year after it was acquired by Sony.

“I would like to believe that I have done my fair share to take the company from zero to one,” Katkoff revealed on his LinkedIn profile. “Now I’m looking forward to seeing from the sidelines how Nadjim and Mike take it from one to one hundred. At the same time, I only wish the best to Olivier Courtemarche and Kris Davis, who are leading the charge for PlayStation on mobile. ohI can’t wait to play all the amazing games from all the fantastic developers!”

It should be remembered that Savage Game was founded in 2020, although it was co-founded by veteran mobile industry developers by Katkoff (Rovio, Zynga), Nadjim Adjir (Wargaming, Rovio) and Michael McManus (Wargaming, Insomniac). The news of the loss of its director comes just two weeks after the departure of the PlayStation Mobile leader, which suggests a possible change of plans in the recently created division.

PlayStation mobile plans

Although PlayStation has only released mobile games by surprise, Sony is building a team of experienced mobile talent, hiring former staff from Apple, Kabam, Meta, Tencent, Super Evil Megacorp, Samsung, Niantic, Zynga, Riot and more. Jim Ryan, president of SIE, announced that the company expects to have half of its launches on PC and mobile phones by 2025, when today there are no major projects for this market.
