The Final Fantasy franchise is widely recognized within our industry, especially for how important it has been to it. Even so, the greatest merit of this franchise turns out to be that it has managed to prevail over time, regularly delivering main installments throughout its years of life. We are also talking about one of the great releases of 2023 on PlayStation 5, as well as a game that promises to get the full power of Sony’s current generation console. Even so, and despite the fact that according to those responsible for the game, we are talking about this title proposing things that were practically impossible to see in the previous generation, now we have learned that at some point in development it was planned that a version for PS4 was also released.

As reported from GamingBolt, the renowned Final Fantasy Union YouTube channel had the pleasure of speaking with Naoki Yoshidathe producer of this video game, which made it quite clear that it was in his plans to develop a version for this console, and that at that time of development they thought it was feasible, but that “it would have taken them at least another year or two of developmentFor this reason, Yoshida decided, according to his own account, to put aside the development for PS4, and launch it exclusively for PS5.

Does this mean that the PS4 version is fully featured?

According to Naoki Yoshida, yes, at the aforementioned moment in which he had to make that decision, it seems that this version was completely cancelled. Of course, it is a reality that this game will eventually reach more platforms, especially PC, but we cannot tell you that there is a possibility that it will be released on PS4, because it would give false hopes.
