While the title may sound like a modern movie, the premise echoes classic 19th century American literature. Trading Places is a modern version of Mark Twain’s 1881 novel, The Prince and the Pauper, which features two boys from different backgrounds switching places. While Trading Places removed the physical resemblance aspect, it retained the core idea and social commentary. This book has a very different approach to the idea, but the social commentary is reminiscent of the original book.
