The NBA is shocked by the news of caleb swaniganwho died at age 25 of natural causes, according to the Allen County, Indiana, coroner’s office.

“We are heartbroken by the passing of former Trail Blazers player Caleb Swanigan. Our thoughts and prayers are with Caleb’s family, friends, and everyone who loved him. Rest in peace, Biggie,” they wrote on social media. Portland Trail Blazers, the team that chose him in the first round of the 2017 Draft to make the jump to the most important basketball league in the world.

Son of a drug addicted father, Swanigan had a difficult childhood in which he passed through various homeless shelters in Indiana and Utah under the care of his mother, who was in charge of six children.

After playing the Sacramento Kings, the Indiana native and out of Purdue University, he ended his career for personal reasons in 2020when the NBA finished playing its season in the Orlando bubble due to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19).

Months later, Swanigan was arrested by police for drug possession, a charge considered a misdemeanor. There he was seen with a overweight of more than 60 kilos and while many worried about his health, there were also those who made fun of him.
