2024 will be a bittersweet year for the Dragon Ball franchise. And, on the one hand, the creator of this series, Akira Toriyama, died at the beginning of March, leaving a big void in the industry and also in the millions of people who have grown with this work. But that's not all, since, in terms of projects, there are many plans for premieres and launches in the coming months, including video games.
Nevertheless, fans are still patiently waiting for the publication's return of the Dragon Ball Super manga, which went on an indefinite hiatus last March 2024. But, although we have had no news about the main story, unpublished content from the franchise has been presented.
And the franchise inaugurated a segment titled “Dragon Ball Super Interval” last January, in which illustrations are exhibited monthly. This time it was Goten and Trunks' turn.
Goten and Trunks star in the new illustration of Dragon Ball Super Interval
As we have mentioned, the “Dragon Ball Super Interval” is a segment that opened at the beginning of 2024 in which Toyotaro performs and shares some unpublished and special illustrations of characters from the franchise. Previously, we have already seen the official art of Gevo, Dr. Gero's son, revealing more details that also serve to deepen this universe.
On this occasion, the protagonists of this illustration are none other than Goten and Trunks. These They are also one of the most beloved characters in the entire franchise.who had a great role in the final saga of Dragon Ball Z.
However, since then, they have been left out of the main story of this work, even in Dragon Ball Super. This is unfortunate, since they have shown great potential as warriors, although they lack discipline. But to fix this, the franchise has brought them back to the spotlight in the manga, before the events of the superhero arc. And as a celebration of this, Toyotaro has made a spectacular drawing of these Saiyans as part of the “Dragon Ball Super Interval.”
In this drawing we can see Trunks sitting on the top of a building, enjoying the view and the tranquility. This one has his school uniform. On the other hand, In the background of the image is Goten dressed in his Saiyaman X-2 suitfloating while holding in his hands a civilian who appears to be a criminal he has defeated, fulfilling his duty as a hero.
This illustration also manages to perfectly represent the dynamics of these characters, at a time before taking part in the events from the Dragon Ball Super movie: Super Hero.
It is quite positive to see Goten and Trunks star in this new edition of the “Dragon Ball Super Interval”, since They are characters that have been unfairly abandoned by the plot, since they have always had a lot of potential both as main and supporting characters. This may also mean that, hopefully, when the manga returns, they will have more time in the spotlight as we saw in the last published chapter where they faced Gohan and Broly.
But that's not all, since the existence of the “Dragon Ball Super Interval” can even be comforting for the fans who are patiently waiting for the resumption of the manga, as it also shows that this work is still more relevant than ever.
It should be noted that this new special illustration will be part of the “Super Sized” edition of V-Jump for the month of August, so you will also be able to read much more information regarding the franchise, including news about its projects and much more . AND the fans have a lot of expectationsas they hope to know new details about the resumption of the manga and also the anime, since many years have passed since its broadcast ended.
