With a brace from Darío Benedetto, Boca beat Barracas Central 2-0, at La Bombonera, and secured qualification for the quarterfinals of the Professional League Cup.

As for the match, after four minutes, the local team took the lead. After a good individual play, Guillermo Pol Fernández put a cross into the area, which Benedetto turned into a goal.

Two minutes later, Neri Bandiera leveled the match, but the goal was annulled at the request of the VAR for the striker being offside.

In the final moments of the first stage, Boca experienced a similar situation. Benedetto scored the second goal with a powerful shot from the edge of the area, but it was not validated due to a previous infringement by striker Sebastián Villa.

In the second half, Barracas Central left several spaces in their attempt to equalize the match. This decision gave benefits to “Xeneize”, who stretched the lead after 14 minutes.

After a failed clearance by the “Handsome” defense, the ball was left to Benedetto, who executed a powerful scissors kick and scored the 2-0.

For its part, Barracas was close to discounting through Junior Arias, who took advantage of a bad start by goalkeeper Javier García and finished off the goal, but his shot crashed into the crossbar.

From that moment until the final whistle the dressed in blue and yellow did not suffer too many shocks, beyond Junior Arias’ shot on the crossbar.

Finally, Boca was victorious and secured second place in group B in the Professional League Cup, which allows them to play the quarterfinals and a hypothetical semifinal at home.
