Racing rescued a tie over the hour against Banfield

With a goal in added time, Racing tied 1-1 against Banfield, at the Cilindro de Avellaneda, for date 13 of the Professional League Cup, and kept their undefeated record in the competition.

As for the game, in the first half everything was even, although the local team had more of the ball. The clearest situation to score during this stage was for Iván Pillud, but his shot went to the side of the post.

In the complement, at 11 minutes, Banfield striker Maximiliano Cuadra eluded the rival goalkeeper and defined with suspense. In an attempt to avoid the goal, Eugenio Mena cleared the ball when he went to the floor, but the ball bounced off Maicol Quiroz and went into the goal.

Despite lacking depth, Racing looked for a tie and achieved it in added time. After a corner kick, Nery Domínguez headed the ball and put the 1 to 1, which allowed the “Academy” to maintain its unbeaten record in the tournament.

After the goal, those led by Fernando Gago went in search of victory, but they did not achieve it. In fact, after 50 minutes, they were left with one less, since Tomás Chancalay was expelled for insulting the match referee.

With one more man, Diego Dabove’s team had a shot off the post by Agustín Urzi in one of the actions prior to the end of the match.

With this tie, Racing accumulates 29 points and remains the leader in group A, while Banfield was left with practically no chance of advancing to the next stage of the tournament.
