Matias Moroni is a new signing for Newcastle Falcons

Argentine back Matías Moroni joined Newcastle from England today, a club that hired him for two seasons, after ending his relationship with Leicester Tigers, where he played for the last year and a half.

“I like how Newcastle wants to play the game, and I feel like I can fit in there,” said the player who trained at Club Universitario de Buenos Aires (CUBA).

When talking about his future Argentine teammates, Matías Orlando and Mateo Carreras, the center said: “Matías (Orlando) and I have known each other since we played together in the M20 in Argentina, and he is one of my best friends as well as being a top player. We know we can play well together because we have for many years, and obviously I also know Mateo (Carreras) from our time with Los Pumas.”

It is worth mentioning that Moroni has just become champion of the Premiership with Leicester by beating Saracens in the final by 15-12 at the Twickenham stadium, located in London. During his time in the English team, the Argentine played 35 games and managed to support five tries.

On the other hand, the back was recently summoned by the new coach of Los Pumas, the Australian Michael Cheika, to play the friendlies against Scotland for the July window due to the loss of Santiago Chocobares, who suffered a torn cruciate ligament.
