Instagram DMs are now available for everyone to use on desktop
In January, Instagram began rolling out its direct messaging feature on the web to a small percentage of users. As of Friday, the feature is officially available for everyone to use.
The company took to Twitter to announce that everyone in the world can now send each other direct messages on desktop.

Sending and receiving Instagram DMs through a web browser works exactly the same as it does on the mobile app.
When you sign in, you will see the Direct Message icon in the top right corner. Once you click on it, you will be able to scroll through all the existing conversations on the left.
You can also DM someone directly through their profile. Just like in the app, go to its page, tap the Message icon, and start typing.
If you’re particularly active on Instagram, you can also set up desktop notifications for DMs so you don’t miss a thing.
Considering the fact that the entire world is on lockdown due to coronavirus, it’s the perfect time to unleash desktop DMs to the masses.
