Foo Fighters captivated the old school and captivated the new generations

Last night was the last day of Lollapalooza 2022 that was vibrated at the San Isidro Racecourse, and as a highlight of the day, the boys from Foo Fighters they stepped on the stage after a great “musical salad” where each invited artist put their ingredient for a lavish edition.

At 9:30 p.m., the lights on the main stage announced the arrival of the band, which started off surprisingly when they slowly allowed themselves to be embraced by the Argentine public who cheered them over and over again… after a few minutes a calm version of “Times Likes This” promised us a perfect night.

Of course, typical of the band, and what is expected of it, was followed by the Hit “The Pretender” that made Lolla jump and vibrate the Rock that the boys give off.

Dave Grohl is, to this day, one of the most charismatic and lovable frontmen in the world of music, and he knows how to give himself to the audience. In other words, Grohl knows what the public wants and does not skimp on giving it to him with his eternal gum in his mouth, his hair in the wind and his scratchy voice.

The night was just beginning and to lower the adrenaline a bit, but aiming, the heart was followed by “Learn To Fly”, “No Son of Mine”, and “Shame, Shame” from his latest album. Followed by the stunning light show featuring “The Sky is a Neighborhood” and the furious “Breakout.”

“We are a band of more than 26 years, that means that we have many songs to play”Dave affirmed, ensuring a night full of successes.

Once again the energy of the public alternated and created a perfect climate, the band sings one of the favorites and the chords of “My Hero” begin to sound, the back and forth with the almost 100 people flowed while the frontman did not stop repeat “They are the best audience in the world.”

Almost halfway through the show, one of the moments for which we also love Grohl comes, and it has to do with the warmth and space he gives his musicians. One by one he introduced them and each one showed what he knew how to do best.

Of course, as in any band, there are favorites and Foo Fighters is no exception, after the applause for Pat Smear (former Nirvana), and comedy through, as we are used to, came the presentation of the drummer taylor hawkins and with it, one of the most exciting moments of the night for various reasons.

Seeing Grohl on drums, and no longer feeling the pressure and discomfort of previous years, is a luxury, and takes us back to those years when the Nirvana trio set a precedent and created grunge. And on the other hand, seeing Taylor shine with his torn voice tells us that something good is coming.

And what if it was, because after the midley of My Generation”, “Blitzkrieg Bop”, “Gonna Make You Sweat”, would come “one that we all know” with “Somebody to Love”, the Queen cover, which put everyone melancholic and happy. Undoubtedly one of the strongest moments of the night.

“Taylor Hawkins is the best singer in this band”Grohl assures and lets it shine.

There was still a good while to go in the show and to get back to the beginnings and the roots, Grohl cuts the sweetness by saying “Well, there’s only one song we can play after Taylos Hawkins’ performance” and it sounds as loud as the band can play. “All my life”, followed by “Run” and “Wheels”.

The band went off the script to receive a painting that Grohl saw in the audience and asked to be brought closer, and there we could see a replica of a Dave with a red background: “We have Picasso in the house”, praised by locating the person in charge of the art that ended up being part of the group’s set design.

In addition, Dave invited the fan painter to meet at the end of the show, but not before joking that it would be Taylor who would take him home.

The night lacked nothing, but the band had one more card to play and that was the moment where, after a brief introduction, the “creator of Lollapalooza, Perry Farrell.

“More than thirty years ago we were with Kurt Cobain at the first Lollapalooza. He was very fed up watching his favorite bands, like Siouxie and the Banshees. At that time, we felt that we were making the revolution… And it was. Now you are the revolution. At that festival I met this man”, Grohl said to introduce Perry.

“Music is the cure, music liberates”, greeted Jane’s Addiction before singing “Been Caught Stealing” and putting the finishing touch to this celebration.

Now if there were 10 minutes left of the show, and it was Monkey and the sad farewell came under the chords of “Everlong”.

“I don’t say goodbye, I don’t like saying goodbye, because I know we’ll always come back. So if you guys come back, we’ll come back,” Dave closes and they say goodbye with a show that will be saved until we meet again.
