Talleres de Córdoba beat Universidad Católica de Chile 1-0, at the Mario Alberto Kempes stadium, for the first date of Group H of the Copa Libertadores. The only goal of the match was converted by striker Héctor Fértoli.

In the first stage, the Cordovan team did not have possession of the ball, but they had the clearest situations to score.

In fact, 23 minutes into the first half, Matías Esquivel hooked up against his rival’s mark on the right side and, with the panorama free, made a precise left-footed pass to Héctor Fértoli, who only had to push the ball to put the 1 to 0.

Just two minutes after the opening of the scoring, those led by Pedro Caixinha had another situation to score. After a corner kick, the defender Matías Catalán had it in the head, but the goalkeeper of the Chilean team, Sebastián Pérez, came to clear the ball when it seemed that it entered.

In the complement, Universidad Católica had the ball, but it cost them to be precise in the vicinity of the rival area.

For his part, Talleres endured the result by withdrawing his lines, although he had the possibility of increasing the advantage, after 51 minutes of play, when Catalán shot on goal alone, but his shot hit the post.

In the end, it was a narrow victory for the team from Cordoba, who thus lead the Group H positions together with Flamengo, who won last night as a visitor against Sporting Cristal.
